How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

It only took a couple of extra minutes after a cold boot on both machines. I can't even say for sure that there wasn't always a delay in connecting in such a circumstance. Under normal conditions, neither the Shield nor the Plex server is rebooted. And no, the firewall I put up was outgoing...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

Oooh, that looks like good stuff, thanks! Just checking, is that something I could make use of ssh'ing into the router on stock firmware? Or is that Merlin only? And do you happen to know if functions like that are naturally persistent, or do they come with config files that can be set in...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

Yeah. Sigh. Either allowing it or denying it eliminates it from normal low level logging, but raising the log level at all in cases of debugging floods the logs again, when I need quiet logs the most. I'll see if I can find an absolute filter that operates on all log levels.

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

Bleah. I was afraid of that (and I still find it baffling that a "feature" that was available but disabled by default on virtually all routers just a couple years ago has now become irremovable despite it only being useful to a subset of the population and having several cons attached). If...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

What? The 20 second broadcasts coming from the router IS IGMP snooping that I can't disable. I am trying to disable that snooping. Not all multicast traffic is snooping, but all IGMP snooping is multicast traffic, and that is what I'm trying to disable. You seem fixated on this meaningless...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

I understand that they are not the same thing (as did the guy you initially said that to). I virtually *never multicast*, so these 20 second packets are a useless waste of resources. The only multicasting I'm getting, aside from some WSD and Avahi-daemon device discovery packets on ports 3072...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

Update: After posting that I found this thread, which *appears* to have a solution. Apparently - and I am assuming this is a merlin-only feature - I could add a wan-event script that would kill the mcpd process 15 seconds after the router reboots...

How to disable router IGMP snooping multicast on AXE16000

For the record, I'm running the stock firmware, but I would be willing to switch to merlin if it can help address this issue. On my home network served by my AXE16000 router, all my firewalls are showing that I'm blocking a packet from my router on 224.0.0.1 every 20 seconds. Based on that IP...

Create and install a Root CA and self-signed SSL certificate

I know I'm necroing a very old thread, but I can't get this to work. No matter what I do to create my own key, even making it completely unencrypted, in the system log I always get this: Jan 6 01:52:24 httpd: Can't get subject/authority key identifier. ([NULL]/[keyid:84:E]) Jan 6 01:52:24...

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

From what you say, I surmise that your main WAN Connection Type (in the WAN section of the Router GUI) is "PPPoE". If that is the case, then you should indeed set ipv6 as "Native". My main WAN Connection Type is "Automatic IP", and therefore I'm supposed to set it to passthrough. See the ASUS...

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

Haven't found one yet but still looking. In the meantime, did you try the refresh thing? Can you spot the hidden detailed settings page I'm talking about? Would appreciate it if you could try it, confirm I'm not seeing things heh. (I get it's possible you won't see it due to different model)

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

Pretty much what I get. Again, I think the main issue is that we cannot modify the hidden "Interface" option to "Ethernet". (Refresh the ipv6 page in the GUI repeatedly while you have Passthrough applied and you can see a more detailed settings page if you look closely, it flashes quickly but...

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

Attempting to enable ipv6 on a client computer does not generate an address. The system log for IPV6 in the router doesn't show anything but local ipv6 addresses. And trying test-ipv6.com shows no ipv6 address detected.

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

What's your WAN Connection type? Automatic IP? If it is (like me) then you should be setting Passthrough, not Native. At least according to the ASUS documentation posted above. I think whether Frontier supports it or not depends on if you're on the equipment they inherited from Verizon, or...

    AXE16000 Can't get ipv6 working (Frontier Fiber)

I've called their tech support twice and both times they swore it should be working for me. The fiber service was actually set up in my neighborhood just a few months ago, probably more recently than that post. They say it does work with their own routers, btw (Eero Pro 6), and of course won't...
