Connect Virtual DSM to VPN router while DSM is home network router

Hi all, I am a total noobie when it comes to port forwarding and double routers so please forgive me if the following sounds odd, lol. I am trying to connect my VDSM via Lan2 on my Synology 1621+ to an Asus AC86U which works at very good speeds (50-60mbs) for Open VPN, whereas the AX11000 seems...

    OpenDNS IP update

Once I got my head around it , it was easy to do, just looked a bit scarey at first, lol. So a brilliant concept for what I needed, thank you for taking the time to list it for me :):):)

    OpenDNS IP update

That was my thinking on doing the 30 minutes :) I likely only need it every 2 or 3 hours as a check but I guess it isn’t really using any resources?

    OpenDNS IP update

Oh right, so it will update on the hour as well as anything I put in as a time ? Thanks, BTW: I just changed it to 30 minutes to see if it now updates every hour and half hour ? Can the 60 be changed to say 180 or is this a set condition ?

    OpenDNS IP update

Yes, it seems to be, won’t know for sure until I get to my Pc to add some files but in the Asus router web page it is showing as active :)

    OpenDNS IP update

This is the .sh script : Would the 60 here be minute for the hour on the hour ? # Should be no need to modify anything beyond this point /usr/sbin/curl -k -m 60 --silent -u "$USERNAME:$PASSWORD"...

    OpenDNS IP update

Hi , yes, I added the info you gave to the wan-start. Wan-start was the only file of the 3 that already existed so I just added it to the end minus the bash. The other 2 scripts had to be made. They will work ok with 755 permissions on all 3 scripts ? EDIT: this is my wan-start : !/bin/sh #...

    OpenDNS IP update

Ok, well it seems to be working, looking at the history on my dnsomatic web page it is checking, although my IP hasn’t changed so obviously it hasn’t updated anything. One odd thing seems to be the time that it’s doing it. I set it to 50 minutes in the script but on the dnsomatic history it is...

    OpenDNS IP update

That’s great, thank you, I don’t think I need every 10 minutes but since I’m not to sure I have set it to 50 minutes for now, I doubt the script will use much resources? Thanks again :) It’s been good fun learning some of Linux and testing my mind, mostly thanks to you guys and this forum, I...

    OpenDNS IP update

hi, I think I have got it all done, had a few problems with pasting, kept missing bits off but got there in the end :) I have run it and no errors have come up but is there a way to check if its working without waiting for my IP to change ? Also just the questions about the time, is the time you...

    OpenDNS IP update

So at 10 minutes, is this going to check the IP every 10 minutes ?

    OpenDNS IP update

Ah!! Would sound like a bad idea on my poor little router then, lol Looks like I will have to try and get my head around Swistheaters scripts :)

    OpenDNS IP update

Just another quick question, Is there not a way to install OpenDNS ‘s own updater (ddclient) on the AC86U with Merlin and Entware running ? It has a version for Linux so I would have thought that it could be installed on the router  Thank you
