How I have installed Asterisk on ASUS router

    # df -h /tmp/mnt/OPTWARE Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 1.8G 949.3M 835.1M 53% /tmp/mnt/OPTWARE For the special difficulties specific to the router setup of Asterisk, I have attempted to describe them all in the post. I can...

    DNS problems on 2.4GHz only

I have very strange problems with DNS only when I connected from Android phones (two of them, Motorola Droid Turbo with MM and SGS S5 LL) with 2.4GHz band only. Periodically, like once a day in average, some sites fail to resolve (timeout). Others work at the very same time. File transfer over...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I wander what is DNS? Default? Something special, which is neither other nor default? I suppose it should get into either of 18-20 categories. I suspect a DNS query might be qosed, does it always get a highest priority? If I would see a net management traffic or similar I would place it above...

How I have installed Asterisk on ASUS router

This is the small howto install asterisk on the router. Why? Maybe there are other guides, but I have seen guides involving chrooted Debian which is an overkill to me, and then I have seen a lot of forum posts about problems without any resolution. Maybe I missed something, but that is how I...

    DNS for LAN clients

Now that works :) So the problem was that stateless ipv6 took the whole range and my client was served by that main range. So I changed IPV6 to stateful, which allows to assign address diapason. Then this: dhcp-range=mobile,192.168.1.16,static,255.255.255.0,86400s...

    DNS for LAN clients

Well, the advertisement cannot be disabled, ipv6 will not work then. I would just disable ipv6 altogether, but Android then invents its own ipv6 address and tries to work through a tunnel, which also does not work.

    DNS for LAN clients

Ugh... Android is extremely unfriendly OS. I managed to assign it what I want: dhcp-range=mobile,192.168.1.16,192.168.1.31,255.255.255.0,86400s dhcp-host=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX,android-device,net:mobile,192.168.1.16,infinite dhcp-option=net:mobile,6,8.8.8.8,64.6.64.6...

    DNS for LAN clients

BTW, if it comes to DNS. A very nice feature would be to be able to specify what to send as a DNS for an individual client in the DHCP config. That is because on modern Android there is no way of changing it.

    DNS for LAN clients

Weird. Panasonic indeed caches old DNS settings, I have just verified it. Not a router issue.

    DNS for LAN clients

FW is 380.65_2 from Merlin. It looks like it only happens on one client. The client is Panasonic SIP phone, so I cannot telnet to it and see in details... Maybe it remembered info from oldrr times, but then it shall survive phone reboots.

    DNS for LAN clients

    I'm a little confused. Router is configured: WAN: DNS1 = 8.8.8.8, DNS2 = 64.6.64.6, Connect to DNS Server automatically = no LAN/DHCP: Advertise router's IP in addition to user-specified DNS = yes, DNS1 = empty, DNS2 = empty I would assume a DHCP client should only get router's address...

    WPS for guest network

Hi! I have a really brief question, more a wish list. Is that possible somehow to change WPS function from main network to guest? I usually have no problem entering my password into my own devices and do not have to do it often, but with guests it happen more often and sometimes more...
