Hi all,
My Asus router, model in the subject, lost connection to the internet even though there is a green tick mark under the internet column in the Pvc summary.
I am trying to avoid a factory reset and have tried using the ISPs router which works. When I plugged the ISP router in, at first...
I have also never had to do this. Since installing the dsl ac88u the ps4 has been very laggy. Can't play a game without lag. So naturally I was looking for router settings that would be best. It's supposed to be a good router as well. I have seen you tube videos that suggest dns server changes...
Please see screenshot from Sony support. You will see open (forward) which to me is port forwarding.
I have disabled the vpn when running the ps4 so no traffic is being routed to the vpn server first. I was just trying to paint a picture of what settings were modified on the router when I...
So...the vpn is turned off when running the ps4. Since my post I have done two things which worked really well:
1) forwarded ports as described by Sony's ps4 connection troubleshooting website.
TCP: 80, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480
UDP: 3478, 3479
2) setup static ip for the ps4 using Google's dns...

I was having massive lag issues on the ps4 since getting this router. I posted a thread on this in the asus area. Anyway - thanks for your help on this, I did not realize they were that different, i.e. DSL vs RT
Guys thanks for your support - I just checked under the router and its a DSL-AC88U.
Is this different from the RT? I downloaded an older asus firmware file which was accepted but did not proceed as just wanted to test whether it would work. The asus file extension was .w.
Since installing the RT-AC88U from asus I have been having serious lag issues on the PS4.
The only setting I have modified is the VPN client, so I can turn on when needed. The PS4 lags with the VPN client in the off position, so really no changes to the standard settings.
Any ideas?
Yes I did - interestingly, i just downloaded the ax88u which is ".w". Is it worth trying that to see if it will work? Is it possible they mixed up the folder naming on the website?
Hey guys - Pretty new to asus routers. I have been having a pretty hard time with the AC88U as compared to the ISP wireless router. I wanted something to improve my gaming experience as well as run a VPN client through the router when needed. I could not get the router to perform which led to...
