Reverted RT-AX58U to Merlin 388.2 and my RP-AX56 keeps disconnecting. What the frack?!

Oh my god, I'm having this issue, too. Weird thing is, after updating my RT-AX58U to 388.2_2, all was fine, but then after 2 days, CONSTANT disconnects. Ridiculous. What changed suddenly after working fine for 2 days? And now it's disconnecting every 5 minutes after I reboot the node.

It worked fine one version back even with NextDNS. And I need this for filtering of traffic. Have been using it for years at this point and it has been great. There were issues with stubby in the past but something got fixed and now it's broken again.

No, I'm using NextDNS as stated in the post.

Just updated from 386.7_2 to 388.1 on RT-AX58U and WiFi is absolute trainwreck. First it needed 5 minutes to even show up in list of available WIFI networks on phone after router was already fully booted up and then my phone kept complaining it can't reach DNS DoT (NextDNS) even though it worked...

I'll try this process. Not sure why recovery of whatever firmware wouldn't just roll it over clean. But I guess it's worth a try to see if this explains all the weird issues.

Ok, thanks. Is it possible that installing latest one "forcibly" using firmware recovery tool would cause weird problems with it? One would think recovery just rolls whatever firmware clean into the ROM and that's that. Hm. Because I had some really weird bizarre issues after. Installing latest...

No, I was doing it in reverse. Returning from 384.5 to official firmware. And it was just failing. I had to do recovery firmware install to override it.

I've been using ASUSWRT-Merlin 384.5 and someone mentioned DoT is now officially supported. So I decided to flash official one back and use NextDNS as DoT on it, fully clean from scratch and my god, the amount of absolutely idiotic problems was insane. How on Earth is it possible that home...

Can't flash official RT-AX58U firmware over Merlin 386.5. It just instantly fails. Wtf? I had to use recovery mode to install official firmware back on router which is super fiddly and unnecessary. Why is it this way? Intentional or a bug?

How come in the past this wasn't an issue, but is now? There were other issues, but not with this setting in particular. Is this by any chance related to DNSSEC ? Only small number of webpages is validated with it and the rest probably got rejected and thus nothing worked. COuld be it was just...

Before, NextDNS was glitchy and often dropped connection randomly. But it worked. Now if I enable DoT on router in Merlin and input NextDNS info, everything is just dead. Entirely. I absolutely have to install NextDNS CLI on router and it's a bit annoying. Why is it so? Has something changed...

It also defeats to turn off oyur own WiFi if you have bunch of surrounding WiFi spots that you can't control anyways.

I was hoping for a wireless solution if possible.
