Aha now that I think about it yes the Asus was on 50.1 But thats all been set and (internal) IPs all set for kit on this range so dont plan to revisit anything downstream of the Asus 😀

Regarding the other points: Am I correct in assuming 1st step is disconnect the Asus and connect VM directly to PC and access via the "router" IP address etc as above?

Aaah great thank you I didnt realise this and checking with Uncle Google yes it seems putting it in Modem Mode means you access with the other address (as per screenshot)

TBF he just did bare wire cable drops I did all the terminations myself Crimping ends at router and all the ones in loft In the bedrooms I terminated them all into surface boxes with a punch down tool I used to be much more hands on a decade ago 🫣

I did that already between the 2 routers and both ports pinged green same for the switch which I swapped out anyway for a new one

Fair Yeah I assumed it was a continuity tester but I meant more in terms of (say) the terminal at the switch was shonky would it still show as slow speed downstairs at the router?

For my own education though If 1 end is bad will it show slow on both end ports or only the bad end?

It's been a LONG time since I terminated any cables so panicking when I do I'll screw it up and make it even worse 🫣🤣
