My good run has come to an end, 45 days 15 hours, wifi connection dropped. Latest entry in system log is Consolidating NVram..... Rebooting the router has everything working again.
I have a brand new AC-88U sitting here in the box I couldn't get to run stable, the wifi would keep disconnecting. I have gone back to my AC-3200 with the 9466 firmware., currently at 36 days 16 hours uptime with zero issues. Only thing I miss from the 88U is the 8 network ports.
Small update, now at 10days 22hours 33mins uptime, still zero issues, how very boring. I think this one is going to be a keeper for me unless some major new features get released in a new firmware update.
Everything is still stable for me, 29 devices connected, mixture of 2.4GHz, 5GHz and wired. Going to be sticking with this firmware release for a while. One thing to mention is that I only run one 5GHz channel, I am not sure if that also improves stability.
Everything is still working fine, although in the log, I get these entries repeated every couple of minutes:-
Dec 10 20:39:37 kernel: br0: port 1(vlan1) received tcn bpdu
Dec 10 20:39:37 kernel: br0: topology change detected, propagating
Does this mean anything to anyone?
1day 12hour uptime so far on this firmware, AC-3200, zero issues (probably best wifi stability to date). If you can do the same for the AC-88U, I will be a happy customer. I have gone back to using my AC-3200 over the AC-88U for stability reasons.
Finally managed to get this to work, left the router sitting in recovery all day whilst I was at work. Came home and the router would now reply to a ping request on 192.168.1.1. Updated to the 380.4 Merlin firmware which I believe is the latest for the AC-3200. Should be good to go, will...
Sorry if I am missing something or being a bit dense. If I put the router into recovery mode and connect via serial, I get the following output going on a loop:-
Reading ::
TFTP Server.
..tftp retry wait 0
Failed.: Timeout occurred
Reading ::

..tftp retry wait 0
Failed.: Timeout...
Many thanks for the reply but I am unable to ping the router while in recovery mode. I have tried assigning a manual ip address of 192.168.0.9 and 192.168.1.9 and pinging 192.168.0.1 and 192.68.1.1 but dont receive replies from either.
Ok, I have got a little further, hooked up the USB to UART cable but am unable to break into the router boot sequence with repeatedly hitting Ctrl-C. I can see the text output on the screen via Putty but it gets to the boot the image... line, then comes up with could not load and repeats over...
I have the same issue as above, router will not enter rescue mode after downgrading the firmware. I have purchased a USB to UART cable but before I open up the router does someone have the pinouts for the AC-3200 available. Thanks in advance.
I don't want to appear stupid but the latest official firmware for the AC-3200 is 3.0.0.4.378.9459, and this is the latest beta as far as I can tell or am i missing something? Wait a second, has this thread title just been amended from 9.0.0.4.378_9460 because I am getting lost.
