    QNAP TS-451+ question

I figured it out. In ES File Explorer, after scanning the network and finding the NAS, I had to edit the login settings. It defaults to Anonymous, but after unchecking that and entering my login info I'm going able to access the NAS with no problem. Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk

Please suggest what AC router I can get max range with

I went with the Pros from the beginning. I also bought a controller key so I can don't have to keep the the software running on my PC. My next job, which I've been wanting to learn for a long time, is to make my own patch cables. I bought a small rack for some network equipment, and I'm tired...

    Ubiquiti UniFi

Yes, I agree. He has done a wonderful job attached not only creating an excellent forum full of diverse knowledge, I enjoy his reviews as well. I still visit this forum even though I have a different wireless system now. I still have a QNAP device and have been buying some smart home devices...

Please suggest what AC router I can get max range with

I've switched over to Ubiquiti UniFi AC AP Pros from owning every consumer grade router (Netgear, Linksys, Asus, etc) with stock firmware, custom firmware, you name it, but ever since changing to the Unifi products, I've never had one issue. I've mounted multiple AP Pros around the house so...

    Ubiquiti UniFi

I'll have to second that. Even though Ubnt has their own forum, it's not as good as your's Tim. I've been on this forum for years. I'm still on this forum after switching my network to Ubiquiti UniFi products, but I still come here when I need help with something else, other products I own and...

Adding SSD to NAS to use for caching

Agreed, it's a fairly new NAS so I have plenty of room to transcode the videos. For example, I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Thailand, and I took my camera to take pictures, videos, etc and shared links to the photos/videos. All videos I record are in UHD resolution and each photo jpg...

Adding SSD to NAS to use for caching

I bought a QNAP TS-451+ about 4 months ago, and I bought 4 x 4TB WD Black drives to install in it and set them up in a RAID5 configuration. After using this NAS since buying it and setting it up, I've continually read up on all the additional functionalities, the different QTS apps, learned how...

    Ubiquiti UniFi

I've been using this forum for years and have always been able to get valuable information about anything I would be having trouble with regarding my home network. However, I've finally decided to exit the rat race of consumer grade routers and the marketing that comes with them. I've decided to...

    QNAP TS-451+ question

Thanks for the info Tim. This device is still very new to me, and I'm still trying to work my way through the ~400 page manual. One thing I did notice is that for some reason I couldn't access the NAS using only the IP address, I had to include :8080 as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A...

    QNAP TS-451+ question

I recently purchased one of these, my first "real" NAS. Previously, I was using a WD network drive. I installed 4x4TB WD Red Drives and setup a RAID5 configuration. I've installed a few apps on it so far, but I haven't migrated all of my data to it yet. I have it setup with all my AV equipment...

Best Small Business Phone System for less than $1000

I use AT&T's Office at Hand, where I can get a toll free number, 10 other phone numbers with any area code, an automated voice system for callers that's extremely customizable, and I can have any phone number/s forwarded to any phone. If I forward them to my cell phone, I can use VOIP. It's all...

    Smart LED Light Bulb Roundup

My ex-girlfriend's dad had Control4 systems at all of his houses, even on his boat, and I must say, even though this was 4 years ago, I was very impressed with what it could do. You could use your phone if you wanted to, but he had universal remotes that all looked the same, but could control...

    Logitech Harmony Home Hub Reviewed

I bought one last week, and so far haven't had any issues with it. When I sold my house about 2 years ago, unfortunately all my audio equipment stayed with it so I'm finally putting together another AV system from scratch. At the time, I had Logitech's Harmony remote, but it was square with a...

Time to Switch to a Managed/Smart Switch?

Thanks. I do have 5 PCs that will be backing up content to it, but it's only personal files, pictures, etc. All my work related information is backed up in real time and stored Inn 4 different places in the US, but that's only because I have someone hosting everything. It makes my job easier...
