AX88U drops internet for under a minute

I hooked a computer directly to the Modem overnight and it had no problems. That's not a guarantee that if I'd waited I might have seen issues. The odd, to me, problem that some computers would see dropouts for around a minute while others had no issue. By logging ping results on three computers...

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

My gut says it's the ISP but the evidence says it's not unless my logic is wrong. The dropouts are typically under a minute. I caught one and while it was happening I could not ping the router to which I am physically connected. I can ping myself by IP or loopback and other PCs. So that pretty...

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

Thanks for the support. Also, if it were the Modem/ISP wouldn't the router have a log entry?

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

I'll have to think about going directly to the modem as I would like to avoid disrupting every device. Perhaps I can insert a PC as a bridge between the modem and the router, Another data point the is away from the modem is from Zoom. I host meetings and if they are important I log on with both...

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

Thanks for the suggestions, but... To be sure, I set up one computer (first) to ping an address every second and record the result in a text file (I had been running it to catch issues before using the event log). I confirmed that when first reported an event 55 "Is the Internet available...

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

Thanks, but I have collected data from four computers, using the even tog Microsoft-Windows-UniversalTelemetryClient/Operational and there is no correlation between the event 55 "Is the Internet available: false". Indeed I have computers beside each other and one will drop the connection for...

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

My mistake, I had tried the OpenDNS. 208.67.222.222 which is owned by Cisco. The 209.197.128.2 is my ISP DNS. I've tried different combinations. I tried setting up four on one computer, rather than have the DHCP assign its IP but still had the issue.

AX88U drops internet for under a minute

All my computers that I checked are dropping the internet for generally under a minute. The computers do not do this at close to the same time. In the Microsoft-Windows-UniversalTelemetryClient/Operational log I see an Event 55 coincident with the loss of connection. The log entry is "Is the...

    RT-AX88U 5 ghz WiFi problems

Same problem the box was not checked but my RT-AX88U disabled 5GHz. I manually selected a non-DFS channel and my 5G came back on.

(NOOB) Definition of "minimal and manual configuration"

This approach worked perfectly. I had done a move to another router and then restored instead of a factory reset. Examples of my problems were: DNS would just not respond for maybe a minute, This happened even when I changed my DNS to an outside one: 8.8.8.8 My Port Trigger list would disappear...

DHCP Static settings and Port Forwarding disappear

My static DHCP settings and Port Forwarding keep getting cleared. I can't see anything else that is being cleared, e.g DHCP assignment range. I am using 384.14 on an RT-AX88U with iMesh and a RT-AC68U with 384.14_2 As you can imagine it is very troublesome as wrong IP addresses get assigned...

    AC68U Port Forwarding Stops Working

Never mind! It was a McAfee thing. Without any notice it changed the RDP firewall rules on several computers, but not all. For some reason removing and recreating the port forwarding worked with the firewall for a while then stopped working.

    AC68U Port Forwarding Stops Working

Thanks or the response, I suppose I should have known to look. All my port forwards are listed in the same order as on the WAN page. Four of the ports actually forward based on both an Open Ports check and actually connecting. I see no pattern one RDP port 339x works 900, 8080 and 15961 out of a...

    AC68U Port Forwarding Stops Working

I saw some other threads on this but they seemed to be specific issues not being set up correctly. I have the latest 384.8_2 though the problem started with my previous version. I have RDP ports forwarded from incoming ports 3390, 3391, 3392, 3394, 3395 to port 3389 on each of five computers...

    Router DNS

Thanks for your help, it was DNS Filtering turned on. Once you run VMs and remote display the physical and virutal adapters always look odd.
