SOHO network upgrade: XT9 vs XT12 vs DECO vs switches

You assume correctly, however at the moment it's not possible to plug both the NAS and desktop to the same device. As for the NAS, both options are on the table: add a second 1Gb card for link aggregation or add a 2.5Gb card to upgrade the link. With the former, I can use two 1Gb ports from the...

SOHO network upgrade: XT9 vs XT12 vs DECO vs switches

Hi! I've been having issues with my Orbi Pro, so they're getting replaced and I'd like some opinions on where to put my money. This is my current network: List of gear I've been looking at: XT12 - 450€ XT9 - 365€ DECO XE75 Pro - 240€ D-Link DMS-107/E - 72€ Netgear MS305 - 110€ Tenda TEM2010F...

To shield or not to shield?

I see...... On this side of the atlantic 1000ft of solid Cat6 Cu cable costs more than twice as much. :( 300Ft costs more than 100 bucks. And no one sells 150ft which is more than enough for me. This puts shielded cable way above my budget, so UTP it is. I'll google around to see if I can find...

So probably there is no real need for shielded cable, right? About terminations, I've bought Cat6 RJ45 connectors and I'm going to use only direct connections, no wall sockets. About bends I can't see into the wall to know, but I've read that since it's for short distances (less than 30ft each)...

To shield or not to shield?

Hi. I'm thinking about recabling my whole house with new sat cable and Cat6 cable. Is it worth it using shielded (ftp/sstp?!) cable? I ask because it has been extremely difficult to find cable other than basic UTP Cat6. And it's sold by people that make an awkward face when I ask for shielded...

    Q on CAT5, 6 DIY cables

By the way, any one knows where to buy not so expensive cables, plugs, etc, online in Europe? I'm going to rebuild my home network and I'm going for shielded (FTP?!) Cat6 cable. About the cables, I've always terminated them the same way and they work, but maybe not at GbE. The max throughput I...
