    GT-BE98 - Merlin or Official

If you need only basic things out of Entware you can just run stock and add it all to that. That's what I did after getting the GT-BE98. What do you need to do that you would normally use Merlin for?

Asus mesh issue due to mixing routers maybe?

I'd be curious about this. Whatever test you are doing, I'd like to run it as well.

GT-BE98 - Is there any known way to run custom scripts on startup without Merlin-GNUton?

Yeah I use a variant of this on a GT-BE98, has been very reliable and survived a firmware upgrade.

    GT-BE98 - Merlin or Official

I use the official firmware, with Entware and a Swap file. While it's a bit more initial effort to set up, it's probably going to be better on the GT-BE98 at least from here. I was running Merlin on a GT-AX11000/RT-AC5300 beforehand; but with the markets going the way they are that devices...

What is still left from the old ASUS firmware?

Because ASUS web site is awesome :| @John Fitzgerald I did not. There's no option, it just defaults to English for the main router interface.

What is still left from the old ASUS firmware?

You can access it by appending /UUAccelerator.asp after your routers address in any region. ASUS GT-BE98 non-pro, stock firmware, sold in Australia. I wonder if it would work if you tried to use it :o

    ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000 Wi-Fi 7 Tri-band

https://www.qualcomm.com/products/internet-of-things/networking/wi-fi-networks/automated-frequency-coordination The whitepaper is pretty good, thanks for pointing me in that direction. That would seem to imply that by default these things are all at the lower power level, and in places like...

    ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000 Wi-Fi 7 Tri-band

Ah, US only. Thanks, I searched locally (not very well, it's 0120 in the morning here) and didn't find that. I'm in Australia. Guess I can ignore it for now :o

    ASUS ROG Strix GS-BE18000 Wi-Fi 7 Tri-band

That... doesn't sound great. That sounds like we'd be charged a subscription service to continue to use 6GHz at higher power levels after that time frame expires... or am I'm way off on my understanding of how AFC works? Although I guess the APs themselves won't get any better so maybe it's...

Solved lighttpd / upsdrvctl on stock

I'm not sure if there's any difference with the RT-AX86U-Pro; I own a GT-BE98, GT-AX11000, RT-AC5300, and used to run this on an RT-AC3200, and an RT-AC87U. All of them worked with the same configuration (minus the newer firmwares not allowing NUT/Lighttpd do run at startup until the fix above)...

Solved lighttpd / upsdrvctl on stock

Thank you so much - I never thought of adding sleep to that file. This solved the problem, it works flawlessly now! #!/bin/sh mount -o bind /tmp/mnt/Core/entware /opt /opt/etc/init.d/rc.unslung start sleep 10s...

Solved lighttpd / upsdrvctl on stock

Apologies for not including those details, here's how I did it; 1. Attach USB stick 2. SSH into the router and: # mkfs.ext3 /dev/sda -L "Core" (yes i used whole device) 3. Mount that filesystem mkdir -p /tmp/mnt/Core mount /dev/sda /tmp/mnt/Core 4. Set up the incredibly dodgy automount # cd...

Solved lighttpd / upsdrvctl on stock

Netdata, the Entware mount, and Swap start just fine? It all works on stock firmware, so the features are "added" but they won't start automatically on boot. Is there a way to perhaps trigger a restart a minute after the router is booted? I tried a sleep 60s delay, but that didn't work. Is it...

Solved lighttpd / upsdrvctl on stock

This will be my first thread, apologies if it's in the wrong place; but it relates to a GT-BE98 running stock ASUSWRT. Firmware version is 3.0.0.6.102_37839 I'm having an issue where on the GT-BE98 I can't seem to get lighttpd or upsdrvctl to start properly on boot. Both services "start" but...

    Release ASUS GT-BE98 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_37839 (2025/05/07)

As far as the router being a wireless router on this version, it's excellent. But since this firmware, my start-at-boot lighttpd doesn't work. I have Entware installed on Stock ASUSWRT, and a few boot scripts to start a swap file, NUT (for monitoring a UPS), and a lighttpd server (for...
