Asus mesh issue due to mixing routers maybe?

hello!
I have a mesh with a main asus axe16000 connected to an axe11000 via 2.5Gb (wired) and there is also an older ax11000 connected wirelessly to complete this 3 router mesh.

Performance is not as good as I want and after some research it seems it's because of how different these routers are.

I got a recommendation to replace the axe11000 and ax11000 with two GT-AX6000 because those are on the same firmware 3.0.0.6 as the axe16000 .

But after reading some articles maybe I’m better off buying two more axe16000 instead?

Does the network 'perform' better without the AX11000 and can you live with that? How big an area are you serving now with three APs?

mainly spotty 2.4Ghz issues is my concern which is affecting my ability to set Twinkly Squares synced with SignalRGB as they get stuttery.
I even had to create a separate guest network for my basement smart bulbs (8 of them) as they suddenly started not connecting. It would seem it all started when my main router moved to 3.0.0.6 firmware which my others do not support.

I'll just assume you have too many APs in too small a footprint and they're stack one-over-the-other on three levels... try just two and stagger them wide apart.
