I pulled my AC68U out of retirement recently to use as an aimesh node, and possibly a wireless bridge.
It worked well for a few days, then went offline. Now I see no signs of life at all (no LEDs light on startup at all, link isn't detected on Ethernet ports by other devices).
I think the...
Glad to hear I'm not alone, but I'm pulling my hair out here too.
Have been running an RT-AC68U for about 6 years, just upgraded to an AX86U this week and of course flashed it with Merlin firmware before doing anything else.
It's generally running well, but crazy unstable with the nest minis...
I just bought a TM-AC1900 from Amazon (new - not refurb) to use as a network bridge (maybe play with Ai Mesh). I can't for the life of me log in to the admin console though!
Basically http://cellspot.router/ or http://192.168.29.1 prompt me to enter username/password - admin/admin or...
I just did a quick and dirty upgrade on my 68U and the bug remains :(
EDIT: And confirmed with a full wipe - 2.4ghz works fine on defaults (CTF enabled) but as soon as it is disabled, 2.4ghz breaks.
Back to Merlin 378.56_2 for me.
No problem - you seem to have hit exactly the same issues I had with mine, so I can save you some trouble...
The quickest solution for you would be to turn QoS back on, use Asus NAT loopback..
- and then check that NAT acceleration is enabled (Check under Tools -> Hardware acceleration), if...
380.57 introduced a new wireless driver (hence the bug!) so it is less likely to give you more issues if you re-enter your settings, or at least use John's nvram utility

I had a similar issue when using 'Merlin' NAT Loopback (this was the default at one stage, not sure if it still is or not).
Try changing it to 'Asus' and see if that solves it.
The setting is in Firewall -> General -> NAT Loopback
This is a common bug (I have seen it) in the latest 380.57...
I've just tried this and can confirm my 2.4ghz radio works with NAT acceleration enabled on 378.57 on my AC68U. I only have 1mbit upload though so really need traditional QoS working...
Sticking with 378.56_2 for now. Happy to test anything if it helps the cause :)
Thanks - I tried that after reading further through the thread. It turns itself back to disable after reboot (probably because I have traditional QoS on).
I've rolled back for now a few it's all good - I'll experiment with ctf next week when I get a chance.
Thanks as always for your efforts Merlin - in case it helps get to the bottom of the 2.4 Ghz issue:
I have a 68u and seem to have the 2.4 issue - often it won't connect at all, and if it does I have no connectivity - can't even ping the router. 5ghz is fine..
Before checking this thread, I...
