    Memory on RT-AC86U

I figured it was dirty back there, but to be honest I was even a little surprised. The front does look nice and clean though. Time to break out the electronics vac.

    Memory on RT-AC86U

The airflow is outwards on the fans.

    Memory on RT-AC86U

I think so. these are 80mm fans. 120 I suspect would over hang the edges and cover the ports at the bottom. I had to turn the left fan at an angle like that so the reset button was accessible. Now if you already have some 120mm fans around and a way to power them, then it doesn't hurt to try...

    Memory on RT-AC86U

Personally I don't think it's something to really worry about unless you are running some CPU heavy scripts or you are really putting a load on the WiFi chips. With that said it is peace of mind if you worry about temps and its a low cost solution. That's why I did it. Also it was fun to...

    Memory on RT-AC86U

The temps are easy to deal with. Just put a couple USB fans on the back over the vents blowing out and the problem is solved. I ordered the fans below, and they are quiet enough I don't ever notice them in the living room with nothing else making noise unless I'm a foot or two from the...

Way to block devices from reaching out to google dns on AC68u?

Others that are more knowledgeable than me might say something different, but that's how I have mine setup. You could try a DNS leak test as well, to confirm.

Way to block devices from reaching out to google dns on AC68u?

Make sure in LAN-DHCP Server you have both of your PiHoles IPs as the DNS Servers and Apply. Then in LAN-DNSFilter turn it on, set the filter mode to Router, and create exceptions for both Pis MAC addresses with the Filter Mode set to No Filtering. So your devices that accept the DHCP DNS...

Repeated errors in log AC86U 384.19

I have dug through my logs, and I don't see the errors anymore. The 2 big changes I have made are updating to 386.2_2 and uninstalling Diversion. When I uninstalled Diversion I don't believe I removed the Entware packages.

    DNS with Instant Guard

I just set the ipsec server to point DNS to my PiHole, disconnected from wifi, connected the InstantGuard VPN connection, then did an adguard test. The problem is solved. Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction. So if anyone else runs across this in the future, login to your...

    Thanks for the info.

    DNS with Instant Guard

If you are using Instant Guard, while away from your home network, will your DNS requests use the DNS server specified in your routers LAN settings? The reason I ask is because I use PiHole on my home network, but I see a lot of ads when using Instant Guard. I am not seeing my phone in the...

    Instant Guard "User Authentication Failed"

I have the router app, but I don't use it too much. I used it to install Instant Guard the first time, and I let Instant Guard setup the DDNS through Asus.

    Instant Guard "User Authentication Failed"

I am on Android 11 with a OnePlus 7 Pro. My router is a AC86U running Merlin's 386.2_2. When I first started using Instant Guard I had a lot of issues. A couple weeks ago I did a full wipe on my router and phone, and that cleared up most of the issues I had with Instant Guard. I am still...

Thanks for the help again. My logging is working again. It's things like this that make me glad I picked this router and joined this community.
