I'm hoping someone can help me understand why I can't seem to print. I've created a Guest network with the same SSID and Pwd on my Zen Wifi XT8 router on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands (using it to isolate IOT and work computers). The printer is connected to the correct wireless as is the client...
I've been having similar weirdness with client listings. The difference seems to be that when I look at the Wireless Log through the WebUI, NOTHING is listed in the Stations List for ANY of my SSIDs. Is there a setting for detailed logging or something that I need to do?
Router and node are approx. 35ft apart. Single node using ethernet backhaul. They're both on the same side of the house. I have a plan to relocate them in opposite corners of the house so we'll see how that goes.
Can you explain "Wiring tri-band is a bit of an application misstep?" By...
Thanks for the feedback. All the nodes are ethernet backhaul so no issues there. Sounds like it would be an interesting experiment to try a single router. Amazon to the rescue
I've posted previously about getting a third node for my Asus ZenWifi XT8 network. (LSS: you CAN buy just one). My question now is whether I should. I have roughly 1750 sq ft. of Living Space and 2 nodes. From the literature, it *seems* like a single node should cover the whole house but it...
I have an Asus ZenWifi XT8 mesh network with the router and a single node. It seems Asus in their infinite wisdom chooses not to sell single nodes. I can't get a decent signal outside my house and thought an extra node might help. It seems I have two options:
1. Get a new router that supports...
It does but then again so does the printer itself. I gather the printer is simply to avoid compromise of it's server and setting it on the router is all that's needed. That said, I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to firewall settings.
Your point is valid and yes, this would be an exception. That said, given your reply, perhaps it makes more sense not to isolate the printer and simply use the firewall rules on the device to prevent access to it's web server. What information is necessary to help determine my best course of...
So conventional wisdom seems to indicate (if you don't want to do a two router setup) that isolating IOT devices on a Guest Network provides at least some enhanced security...check. I also thought it best to isolate my old HP AIO printer since it's not up to par with current security standards...
Thanks OE! That's more consistent with what I've been reading (e.g. set max bw and force cleanest non-dfs channel). Still getting these damn "ping spikes" though despite turning off the Roaming Assistant. Is there another way to track down what's causing the issue?
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to have done it. I turned off Roaming Assistant per the article but I'm still seeing the issue. I've attached an example of what I'm seeing.
Thank you tgl. I'll take a look. I have GB internet so lower bandwidth isn't a good option. I was wondering more if letting it choose was better than forcing it to 80 MHz. Could it potentially use the lower bandwidth when not strictly necessary?
