Not until I did this was I able to see & use the 5 Ghz band with this adapter. I've installed and uninstalled many times and tried various things. I was about to return it as defective. Thanks!

DNS reliability is extremely important, since lookup requests that are dropped and ignored by nameservers cause significant delays in Internet access while the querying system waits for a reply. The system is then finally forced to reissue the query to the same or to backup nameservers. While...

Okay mate I'll give this John's Fork distro a go. Never used Merlin before so I haven't any experience with it. I started all this third party firmware with my Linksys WRT54G. I first flashed DD-WRT then HyperWRT Thibor and lastly (which I am using to write this) Tomato Polarcloud. So mostly...
So you are saying rather than using the restoration utility to go through the CFE and upload the firmware there? I wasn't aware that could be done for fear of mucking this into a useless brick. Can this be with any other than the ASUS or does that have to be flashed first before going with...
Originally had Tomato working fine on router. Decided to flash Merlin then ran into problems.
Cannot flash any firmware (including ASUS official) using ASUS restoration tool. Connected ethernet cable to LAN port which strangely shows up in network as old SSID from Tomato? Already done reset and...
Mine is now almost four years old and I was thinking of the AC 3200 model. Anyone have comments about that router? Looking to hook it up to gigabit fiber and dump this outdated DSL line.
So now I am here and back to the ASUSTeK - CFE miniWeb Server. The router seems to be in recovery mode (power light slowly flashing) but I keep ending up with the firmware not flashing through the ASUS firmware restoration utility. It goes through about 60% then fails.
Thanks to everyone for their assistance! :)
Incidentally it was all due to blocking cookies in the browser! I enabled them and voila the Internet Setup screen displayed! <shake head>. Now back to square one! o_O
Got into the ASUSTeK - CFE miniWeb Server chose command Restore default NVRAM values.
Command nvram erase completed.
Logging back to 192.168.1.1 after turning off router stuck me back into the ASUS logon screen.
Admin pw didn't work.
That didn't work either. Nor did holding in the reset button for 30 seconds. I did clear out the browser's cashe as well. The SSID shows up as ASUS in the Wireless Network Connection. I'm still locked out! :( Does that mean this thing is bricked?
