RT-AC68U OpenVPN behind another router

I am trying to use my RT-AC68U with the 3.0.0.4.374.35_4 build as a WAP and an OpenVPN server. I see that I can only use VPN when in router mode. I am stuck using my Verizon actiontech router for my ISP due to FIOS settop boxes requiring the coaxial support. So I have port forwarded port 1194...
