HD Streaming Smackdown: Draft 11n vs. Powerline

I use 2 WNHDE111s to watch 720p video off my home server but it is something like 8mbps and so it works fine. However the real test will be to see if it can handle Blu-Ray bitrates. I've actually seen it get pretty high and enough to max out a 100mbps port so I guess with buffering there is a...

    Wndr3700 + dg834gt

Why not WNHDE111? Beware its port is 10/100 only. Shouldn't make a difference but I've actually seen it hit that limit before. Would have preferred gigabit ports. I guess that's what the DAP-1522 is for I suppose, too bad about its poor wireless performance.

As close to ideal as possible involving the WNDR3700

I have a setup where I have a home server and a desktop and several laptops. Both the home server and the desktop are located away from my internet connection. Currently I use both a DIR-655 and 2 Netgear WNHDE111 Wireless N 5GHz ap/bridge in my network. I use the DIR-655 to supply 2.4Ghz...

How to use spare router as Xbox wireless connection?

If you have an old laptop around or a spare machine you could also use it.

    Which Giga Switch

I don't know if I believe that. Some of these switches are pretty bad. I picked up a Netgear GS-605 that supposedly supports Jumbo frames to 9K. When I set both machines to 9K it transfers files at (no kidding) 800kbps. When the server (WHS) is set to 9k and Jumbo frames is disabled on...

    Netgear WNHDE111 5 GHz Wireless-N Access Point/Bridge Review

Before you go out and buy a WNHDE111 read this. I have 2 of these in my apartment and they were bought to create a fast wireless bridge between 2 machines in my home. I have to say the wireless side has been working fine but note that the ethernet ports in this unit are slow 10/100 ports. I...

D-Link DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router: Second Time's the Charm?

My thoughts with whatever little experience I have in networking is to keep the DIR-655 (excellent box by the way) and supplant it with an inexpensive but high performing (see the wireless charts) single radio 5GHZ router. Sure you will have 2 routers and 2 networks, but I like to see them...

Very confused about the Norco DS-500 DAS review.

I saw that for writes the speeds were in the expected range. However for reads I'm very confused. The comparison graph shows the DAS reading data at about 1,100,000 Kilobytes per second, so we're talking about 1.1 GBps? I know of no hard drive capable of that, but perhaps a massive RAID 0...
