Ping increases after couple of hours of the modem being on

What other Fortnite players say about gameplay experience and ping: https://www.quora.com/Whats-a-good-ping-in-Fortnite Asking for 5-10ms to remote game server seems like not very realistic.

Ping increases after couple of hours of the modem being on

If this game relies on low ping only the players with lowest ping will always win. Is this a known fact in Fortnite world? You have 5-10ms ping to your local Cloudflare DNS server. What are your chances for 5-10ms ping to a remote Game server? Right. 😌

Ping increases after couple of hours of the modem being on

Average human reaction time to visual stimulus is around 250ms. It's defined by the speed our nerves transfer signals to the brain, the speed our brain responds and the speed our muscles can contract. This is called science. Additionally your monitor has to work @200Hz refresh rate in order to...

    asus rt-n66u replacement

For 3-storey house with >100 devices you need something better than a single home AIO router. Most home routers support about 30 devices per band. With your many VMs and IoTs it will be frustrating experience all over again. You work in IT industry, perhaps have some networking knowledge and...

    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51685 (2024/04/15)

Could you please check if this bug is fixed? https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ac68u-firmware-version-3-0-0-4-386_51668-2023-11-30.87855/page-3#post-891423

    TP-Link Archer High Vulnerability

I use both Android and iOS devices. Apple has better screening of apps on App Store and apps are usually better quality or run better on 20 well known hardware devices. Android apps for 1000 known and unknown hardware devices are hit and miss and Google Play unfortunately allows virtually every...

Mesh router vs regular for mesh

Get an RT-AX86U Pro, use your RT-AC86U as AiMesh node, but only if really needed.

    Looking to buy AX router.

And to @TheLostSwede question above - How many clients need or can do >500Mbps over Wi-Fi? Marvell 88F6820 in Linksys WRT32X is excellent. In some applications like true SQM it may outrun Broadcom BCM4912 in Asus Pro models. WRT32X also has better chances for continued 3rd party firmware...

    Looking to buy AX router.

I would keep using the existing OpenWrt router.

AC86U USB not reading 5 volts

With no knowledge and proper tools attempting repair will cause permanent damage. I would give it to repair shop instead. For this specific model repair doesn’t make much sense. It’s EoL and has multiple hardware failure points plus unresolved software issues.

Yet another question about VLAN w/ RT-AX88U Pro in AP mode.

Why don't you get a proper business class AP for your setup? This is a consumer router with perpetual beta firmware.

    What to do?

Now many need 2Gbps Internet speed, now many are wired, now many are AX and how many support 6GHz band? Answer the questions for yourself and you have the answer what do you need there. You perhaps need nothing better than the existing router.

    @thelonelycoder Spotting!

You have some BIG bananas there. Locally grown? I used to live about 2.5h drive on 2 South, across the border in Pizza Land. 🍕

    CT8/AC3000 and ASUSWRT?

XT8s created a lot of trouble for the users. CT8s were never popular around here. Single ET8 is useless in your case. Asuswrt-Merlin and forks don't improve anything AiMesh, it's closed source. In my experience AiMesh works better on stock Asuswrt firmware. Different models all "AiMesh...
