I was looking for a way to set up Mullvad on my router, and my farm is full of only ZenWiFi XT-8's. Lo and behold, here is a fork! Why is it not included in the offical Merlin homepage?
Yesterday I gave the latest RC2 beta firmware a try (9.0.0.4_386_40947), I was happy with more options to fiddle with in the web gui.
However the node went from Great to Weak wireless backhaul with the main router. It was solved by simply reverting back to the latest official stable firmware...
I came home with a new Synology DS220j and Seagate Wolf NAS disk, had no problem setting it up with the node in the garage. So this was basically no brainer because I tried using an old (10+ years old) USB HDD as NAS.

After a while I tried out using admin/admin as login and I was successfully logged in.
So my new problem is that I need to change the admin/admin login to a new one, but I haven't found solution of how to change username and password yet. Right now my NAS is vulnerable to all...

After some tryout, I found out that I can access my usb nas by using username/password admin//admin, I tried using the FAQ found at bottom of web gui for solution to make login credentials identical as the main routers login credentials...

I don't understand what you want to say about XT8 = RT-AX95Q, I'm not a router guy.
My NAS use USB 3.0 connection, and it is NOT detected in the network map. I use the latest firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25790
