    Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_51685 (2024/04/15)

I received notification of update being available and upgraded without any issue yesterday. My RT-AC66B is still showing up-to-date at previous version so the rolling update hasn't reach it yet. FYI.

Release ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51665

Every operating environment is different. For my house and network configuration, one of my WiFi IoT clients fails to connect when implicit beamforming is disabled. Test and see what works best for your setup.

    Hack my own Asus router?

Hacked routers could conduct DNS hijacking. More dangerously, hacked routers could also be maliciously flashed with compromised firmware.

How to Setup WiFI to automatically switch off when no devices are connected?

Article from 17 years ago: https://www.zdnet.com/home-and-office/networking/the-six-dumbest-ways-to-secure-a-wireless-lan/ Wouldn't simply increasing the router setting's 'Beacon Interval' effectively "reducing the beacon pulse frequency"? No special firmware necessary...

    RT-AC68U NTP sync error

I also have a RT-AC68R running in the AP Mode, and NTP has been working correctly for the last several years with all the various versions of Merlin and stock firmware. The RT-AC68R is running latest stock firmware 3.0.0.4.386_45987-gb8fc0b6 at the moment. What's your NTP Server setting?

    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

May not want to "turn that back off" just yet, as I think you're making some progress. As HTMLSpinnr had pointed out previously, currently your connection may be timing out because no WAN IP was issued due to failing/lacking IPoE encapsulation authentication? Might verify that...

    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

I believe the "dumb switch method" is just configuring the fiber modem-router to operate in the bridged mode which is not applicable with your EMG6726. While double-checking with your ISP, might also check if IPv6 is required rather than IPv4. Good luck!

    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

I agree with HTMLSpinnr's assessment. Just an additional note, be sure to power OFF the ONT so to release the ZyXEL's WAN address, and would renew after you swap it out with your router and power ON the ONT again. Good luck!

    Blocked by Fiber Folk's Box

Just curious, is your fiber setup using the ZyXEL PMG5617GA/PMG5622GA? If so, might check with your ISP and see if they could/would replace it with a ZyXEL PMG1005-T20B or equivalent? Good luck!
