What I wanted was to extend my wireless internet access to areas of my home that didn't connect reliably. As a caveat, the things I wanted to connect in these areas are fixed (therefore, no roaming). These devices also do not require much throughput. Therefore, I went with a separate SSID so I'd...
If the answer is "Yes", then should the SSID's on the Archer AP be the same as the Asus SSIDs?
EDIT:
I got it working finally. I used different SSIDs but not sure that it matters.
I have an Asus RT-AC5300 set up in AiMesh mode with an RT-AC86U as a mesh node. Can I add a TP-Link Archer A6 as an additional Access Point to this mix? That is, I know the Archer A6 won't be an AiMesh node like the AC86U is. Can you mix AiMesh nodes with Access Points?
@distilled
I suppose that would be one way to do it but I don't know if it would load correctly into the new firmware via a restore utility. Note: I gave up on the little custom icons long ago as it was just too time-consuming to reload them after factory resets.
@danioj
The only thing that worked for me was upgrading to the latest firmware and then doing a factory default reset. With over 40 devices in the DHCP manual reservation table, it was painful. (I wish there was a reliable means of capturing just this data and then being able to reload just...
Today (Sunday 19 July 2020) my router shows (on the Syslog page) it is Sunday 6 May 2020. How do I correct this?
Nevermind. When I reenable Connect to DNS Server Automatically, the date got corrected. I had disabled it in an attempt to get the WAN icon on the Network Map to show that I really...
Yes, I did that as well. Still the same problem. At this point, I'm thinking I will have to do a factory reset and load all my customized settings again. That will have to wait though until I have a free day. I'll just live with the erroneous icon until then.
Thanks L&LD but I am already using the DNS settings for OpenDNS:
208.67.222.222 & 208.67.222.220 so I am not connecting automatically.
Still, get the Internet Status:Disconnected icon though.
Thanks, I found it and unchecked both. I rebooted but still no luck. Icon continues to show "Internet Status: Disconnected" even when it really is connected.
UPDATE: Although my search in this subforum yielded no results, my search in the Asuswrt-Merlin subforum showed that many are having this...
Where is that located on the stock AsusWRT? I don't have a page called "Network Monitoring"? I find no place to even check both DNS Query or Ping. What am I missing?
I have an Asus RT-AC5300 router (FW 81981) in AiMesh mode with an RT-AC86U (FW 81992) and under GENERAL==>NETWORK MAP the globe icon at the top says "Internet Status: Disconnected".
However, the Internet is connected and I can ping and browse all over the Internet.
It used to work and would...
I second this recommendation! Audible alert of "New computer found" gets my attention quickly. I keep a list of ALL devices that have ever connected to my network with their hostname, IP address, wired AND wireless MAC. this list includes any guests' or relatives' devices so I do not get false...
Who in the world would want Google (aka Obama's buddy...practically lives in the White House according to visitor logs) to have an open ear into your own home? Do you really think that this will not be used against you? If so, then you will deserve what happens to you.
Does anyone remember the...
