Problem with IPv6 on USB WAN port

I'm currently running Merlin 388.2_2 on an RT-AX88U, and I recently got a 2.5GbE USB dongle (RTL8156BG). I'm using the r8152 driver so the interface is eth8 instead of usb0, although from what I can tell from looking at the source the name doesn't really matter. The web interface seems to expect...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

Still trying to figure out two problems with my AX88U that started with the first 388.1 build I tried (beta3) and are still present in this release: odhcp6c doesn't seem to be running at startup, so there's no IPv6 prefix configuration. It works after I manually run service restart_net. Update...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

This build seems to resolve a frequent panic loop with 386.7_* on my AX88U that occurred when my current switch and the WAN port(s) were both connected. I've noticed that odhcp6c is not running after boot for some reason, though. I had to run service restart_net to bring up IPv6. Is there any...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I can also confirm that setting odmpid=RT-AC68U sticks around after a reboot.

I also have an empty value for odmpid (and PA is not present in nvram at all) on my converted TM-AC1900, last factory reset was about a year ago. In my CFE (1.0.2.1), I see odmpid=ASUS but PA= is not present.

Yep, that's the page I meant. I guess it makes sense to have the extra validation for ACCEPT rules. I'm checking out the new release now. :) Edit: ::/0 works! Now I don't have to hardcode my prefix in the settings any more!

Actually, now that I think of it, the reason I put ::/0 in is that the form doesn't allow the local/destination address to be blank (but it allows the remote/source one to be). Can we change that so the form (and nvram variable) accepts a blank destination? That would be consistent with the form...

Thanks for the quick response! I was able to work around the problem by setting the destination for the rules to my IPv6 prefix/64 instead. The problem was causing me headaches for months and I'm really glad I understand what's behind it now.

Thanks, that was accepted by the router and after rebooting it with the new rules I now have working IPv6. But from what I understand of IPv6 mask notation the /::ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff mask requires the last 64 bits to match exactly, and since it's masking the address :: (i.e., 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0)...

    Just a guess, maybe it doesn't like my ip6tables rules applying to ::/0? admin@router:/tmp/home/root# nvram get ipv6_fw_rulelist <SSH>>::/0>22>TCP<DNS Server>>::/0>53>BOTH<HTTP...

The router is an RT-AC68U and it's connected to an AT&T DSL (U-verse) modem/gateway. The modem/gateway has a DHCPv6 server and delegates a native /64 prefix. I have "Prefix delegation requires address request" set. I have "Enable Firewall" unset for IPv4. The modem/gateway also assigns an IPv4...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I have located the problem that causes the device to be unable to get an IPv6 prefix (or address for that matter), and found a temporary fix, which is to toggle ipv6_fw_enable after each reboot. For some reason the netfilter INPUT chain for IPv6 is completely messed up at boot with...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I've been losing IPv6 again on V30E2 and it persists after upgrading to V31E6. The device is sending DHCPv6 solicits but not responding to neighbour solicitations from my upstream router even though "Filter neighbor solicitations" is unset. As a result it's not getting a DHCPv6 response...

I fixed it just now, looks like the RT-AC68U wasn't responding to IPv6 neighbour solicitations so the upstream router was unable to send DHCPv6 replies. "Filter IPv6 Neighbor Solicitation" was set to "No" in the firewall config, but I toggled it on and off and that appears to have made DHCPv6...

Has anyone noticed problems with WAN side DHCPv6 on recent versions (V29-V30)? My RT-AC68U isn't picking up a IPv6 address or delegated prefix. I see outgoing DHCPv6 solicits but no responses. I don't think anything has changed in the upstream router which continues to send non-DHCP router...
