Using Ubiquiti Airmax Omni 5G (AMO-5G) antennas with currently available APs?

That's what I was starting to guess after I found the note in the tech specs about adding an Airmax antenna. Thanks...this all is super helpful and gives me some things to think about! I'll have a look at the U7 Outdoor/Pro Outdoor specs....that could be a possibility. And yeah I'll ask over on...

Using Ubiquiti Airmax Omni 5G (AMO-5G) antennas with currently available APs?

They're these units (sorry, this was the easiest way I could think of to convey which generation of AP we already have). We bought almost all our Unifi AP5 units secondhand/open-box (the Airmax antennas were purchased new though)....-highly- doubtful that the APs are Airmax/UISP because we...

Using Ubiquiti Airmax Omni 5G (AMO-5G) antennas with currently available APs?

Hi everyone....doing a little research for our -very- rural networking needs and hit a roadblock on this. We currently have Airmax Omni 5G 13dBi (AMO-5G13) and Omni 5G 10dBi (AMO-5G10) antennas (tech spec sheet linked here) connected to older Unifi 5G outdoor APs (from circa 2015, technically...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

They were 'recognized,' as in they show up in the network topology with the correct device names (e.g., "Unifi AP5 outdoor"), but they were *not* adopted by the controller (which makes sense because they're already controlled/standalone). We're running 2 Unifi AP 5GHz outdoor units and 1 Unifi...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Just wanted to provide a final update on this project...we installed a Cloud Gateway Ultra on Monday without a hiccup (I just had to change its IP address accordingly). All access points are behaving normally and all wired and wireless devices receive full-speed connections from our ISP. No...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

We are definitely not in lightning country, haha. Very rare around here (thankfully, due to fire risk).

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Hi all, many many apologies for my late update! (weather was not great for doing the work, plus some personal stuff came up, so we were limping along on our old router for a while) We added the suggested switch and the APs still stopped broadcasting after exactly 2 minutes (I timed it). So then...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Sorry about that...all long runs are CAT6 (see attached image). Is the "enable connectivity monitoring and wireless uplink" being turned on an issue? I found some posts elsewhere that said to turn this option off in the controller software if the WAP stopped broadcasting after a few minutes...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

When I say "controller" I'm referring to the Unifi controller software...we don't leave this running. It's only used to set the passwords for the WAPs, etc, After we've adopted an AP and made all the settings changes, we quit the software. We don't have some physical controller box or something...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Okay we did this test this morning. The Amplifi "saw" the unadopted AP, but we couldn't get the AP to broadcast a signal while hardwired to the router. We're done with the Amplifi....it's being returned tomorrow. We had a Netgear AC1900 R6900 laying around (previously unused), so I tried...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

It's actually buried in a conduit....we tested it with a CAT5 tester and it seems to be fine? Certainly something to keep an eye on though, thanks. We're going to do a test tomorrow with the Amplifi router (before we send it back) by directly plugging in an extra WAP that hasn't been adopted in...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Thanks for the video, I'll check it out. I guess I'm scratching my head since this crazy old D-Link has been transmitting flawlessly for a decade+....is there anything to look for in the specs of new routers that could point to "beating" the 100m max? For example, the Amplifi HD had no problem...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

All of our existing APs have been adopted in the network controller software we've used for years to manage the APs (is this an issue?)...so *theoretically* they should continue to function (i.e., broadcast a signal) with a UCG-ultra? I guess they should theoretically continue to function in...

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

We chatted with Ubiquiti and they said our WAPs (they're Unifi AP outdoor 5Ghz units from 2013 or so) "may not work" with the cloud gateway. We'd rather not try something that we've already been told might not work. Thanks though!

Upgrading router for a rural multi-building wifi/wired network

Hi everyone. We're at our wit's end trying to figure this out, so hopefully y'all can provide some suggestions to get us on the right track. We live in a pretty rural area and get LoS internet from our ISP (stable at ~25 Mbps). This passes from the ISP's box into a central router (currently an...
