    DNS Advice Please

Hello all, Do you use NextDNS, Cleanbrowsing, OpenDNS to block unwanted content on a family network? I was wondering what your experience has been especially with NextDNS versus Cleanbrowsing. Thank you for any comments in advance. I have an Asus AX86U for my router......many devices.....

    GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX86U ??

@Smokey613 WAF, I had to look it up and laugh at that one! @Smokey613 @SuperFreaky @Tech9 I agree with many if not all of your sentiments for my situation. I too returned the GT-AX6000 and other equipment. I have a used ax86u that is working spectacularly for my home, basement and outdoors...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Thank you @jsz Wonderful experiential information. I had the gt-ax6000 and then sent it back. I purchased a lightly used ax86u on Facebook marketplace and it is spectacular in my 2100 Sq ft two floor house. I was going to use my ac86u as a bridge node but it all works so well I don't need to...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Great points. Thank you for your response. Interesting thoughts on other options....there is TMobile Home Internet in my area too. Come to think on it, I do quite a bit of uploading to Microsoft Teams drives, and yes a laptop backup client that uploads but is throttles. I have 5 active people...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Hello again.....On this topics one more question of nuance. How important are upload speeds to you all? I can see bandwidth for security cameras etc but I don't have those. I pay for a 1.2/35 connect with Comcast but I am thinking of downgrading to a 600/20 because not many services even allow...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Thank you for all the good replies here. I will either use two ac86u and may add a central ax86u.... We'll see. Don't really need the multi gig yet....... Especially if Wifi6 is only 40% faster that wifi5 according to Dong knows tech.... Good articles...

@Tech9 do you find the new ax86u toy valuable? Any better speeds? Or distance? That are helpful to you? Curious of your observations.

    GT-AX6000 vs RT-AX86U ??

Hello @John_ I am in the same boat with you xfinity 1200. I work from home and the better up speed feels better. I am testing a Gt-ax6000 ($329 USD) compared with my AC86U. I get 20-80% better wifi5 download speeds but not sure it really makes a difference. I put out $760 for this 2.5Gb test...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

You know....perhaps I invest in a used AX-86u and get better wifi numbers with wifi6 and forget the rest. Save me $600 and I get the better central wifi speeds for wifi 6 clients. Then all I am missing would be the difference between 941 and 1366 for 3 wired PCs and I really don't use that many...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Right. That is what an older WSJ article says......it measured many streams and excess beyond 300Mbps does not make much difference. https://www.wsj.com/graphics/faster-internet-not-worth-it/ Why did you invest in the AX-86u? Of course a great router.....

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

Good points. Thank you both. My current MB8600 is a single gigabit wan port. No LACP possible. Thus the MB8611 for testing. The 20-100% faster wifi speeds seem and the slight distance benefits of the AX6000 lean me that direction but I suppose if I replaced the primary router with an ax86u vs...

Real world speed/reliability/distance differences? Worth upgrade AC86U to AX6000 and SB8611? Testing....

I appreciate all the advice offered here. I have read many many posts by regulars here...thank you for offering your service and assistance to the community. With that said, I have xfinity 1200/40 service with SB8600 (1Gb) with ac86u, two older netgear ac routers set as AP via wired backhaul...

    dnsmasq and domain redirect

Thank you! The above makes sense to me. However several questions if I might. 1) Following directions, I turned on jffs partition but did not format it. 2) The above shows the exceptions, but where do I set the upline DNS Server for all the rest of the upline queries? I don't want to use my...

    dnsmasq and domain redirect

Hello all, I have read this.... https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/Custom-domains-with-dnsmasq and started to look at this... http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/docs/dnsmasq-man.html A bit overwhelming. I would just like the configuration in the .conf file to subsitute...
