Any reason to put in this new (old switch)

OK I have been playing with the HP 1810 behind the unmanaged switch. If I simply wanted to change out my unmanaged for managed would I have to assign ip or could I let it assign by dhcp? Remember I have Arris SB 8200 modem and Ubiquity ER-4. My plans is to change out and then latter on play...

Any reason to put in this new (old switch)

This is my second topic on this forum. I had a real good experience when I asked about my router so I am turning to my more educated colleagues again. I have a SB 8200 modem by Aris, a ubiquiti ER-4, and a "NON-MANAGED" switch. I have both wired and unwired wifi. Typically I only use 1...

Dear L&LD: They did not give me any equiptment I have my own modem and router. I can rent theirs but chose not to. The Bridge mode is available on my Ubiquiti but my research suggests it might be slower. I do not speak from authority. Are you referring to "Linked Aggregation" or is this...

That sounds pretty good. Mostly pictures, word documents, some videos when we were all young. BTW right now my backup is a Dell Power Edge T310 that I have had for over 5 years I think. 2 TB drives. I have maxed out. Makes a lot of noise also

I successfully fought the urge to aggregate based on your experience. Just curious what type of NAS device connection does your set up have?

Agreed. Perhaps when I put in a NAS which is my next project as I have too many decades of files. Thank you.

So it appears to be academic as opposed to practical. Before your answer I googled this: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/204975844-EdgeRouter-Interface-Bonding I am probably not going to do it but out of curiosity would one have to change setting on the "switch itself" I did not know...
