Need some advice please, xClaim vs. ASUS

@thiggins, most of the devices are on 2.4GHz band: 30+ security cameras FTP videos and still pictures at set time interval 30+ "smart" wifi power devices, relatively low traffic some miscellaneous automation devices A set of 6 Sonos speakers streaming music, some 6 - 10 hours a day during the...

RT-AC87U, dual wan balancing + OpenVPN?

I have RT-AC87U with Merlin built 380.57, set up as the router. Dual WAN (both DSL from different ISPs setup on WAN port and Lan4), balancing In order to use VPN, I have setup the following routing rules so all VPN traffic would go through primary WAN: I setup OpenVPN server to receive...

    RT-AC3200 & HDD (same as RT-87U & HDD)

I am very new to this forum. This may have been discussed here, but I was not able to find it. I have a RT-AC3200 running 380.57, and configured as FTP server. A HDD (WD 3T External) connected to the USB port (2.0 or 3.0) on the router. The HDD receives heavy traffic from 20+ networked clients...

Need some advice please, xClaim vs. ASUS

I can confirm that RT-AC87U and RT-AC66U(R) both handled over 85 clients without any issue. And these are active clients, meaning with regular intranet and internet traffic. This is quite extreme for any home or small office use. So far, the only "enterprise" level network device I have used is...

Need some advice please, xClaim vs. ASUS

Sorry, Chrismallia, I am afraid that I am not familiar with xi3. TP-Link routers are fine products, although not as versatile as Asus. I stick with Asus for a 10-unit network (router+Access Point+Bridge) because the interchangeability and easy interface control. Any decent unit there should be...

Need some advice please, xClaim vs. ASUS

I would totally agree. RT-AC87U has many functionalities and features you would NOT use as an AP. I use RT-AC66U(R) as APs and repeaters to extend the wifi range, and even that is overkill.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 380.57 is now available

RT-AC87U as router, flashed from 378.56_2 to 380.57, working well in both versions. RT-AC3200 as AP, flashed from stock firmware to 380.57, so far so good. RT-AC66U & RT-AC66R as AP, flashed from 378.56_2 to 380.57, working well in both versions. RT-AC66U & AC66R as repeater, worked well with...
