Smooth dirty upgrade BE96U from Beta2, RT-BE58 and clients functioning as expected.
Of note, this whole 3006.102.x set of firmware has required first installing the router firmware, then rebooting the bridged Comcast router to reestablish internet. If I reboot the BE96U, I must let it settle...
Ditto... using WG on main lan and a different one for guest. On initial setup I had an issue with a specific WG server, but created a new profile for a different server in the same endpoint city and it has stayed stable for many days. Note I'm using Proton VPN with WG.
Update (from here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-3006-102-5-beta-is-now-available.95115/post-964301) re RP-BE58 mesh node on BE96U with 3006.102.5 ... installed the 102.5 release on BE96U and factory reset, minimal setup. RP-BE58 now connects as expected. Slowly adding back in...
All, quick report... I've attempted to add a RP-BE58 to the 102.4 release without luck. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-3006-102-4-is-now-available.94651/post-957603 My RP-AX58 worked fine. I've continued to attempt to add the BE58 without luck through all the Beta cycles of...
Are you perchance testing through a VPN?
I ran ShieldsUp through my VPN (wireguard, running on the router) and it detected the VPN endpoint IP, not my actual IP, and gave passing grade on all service ports, but also indicated PING fail due to response. My Firewall settings are set to Not Respond.
Mesh Nodes - Range Extenders
I'm running a BE96U with Merlin 3006.102.4 final. I recently tried to link a new RP-BE58 Wifi 7 extender and could only get it to link up with my main router using the wired option. Then, selecting 5G preferred link in the node management menu, restarting without...
That's pretty neat! I have a UPS that my router is plugged into as well, but it is very far from my ONT modem, so if power goes I'm still down. Maybe one of these for the ONT alone?
Also, see if you can locate instructions on how to get into the fiber ONT in an online user group and put it into bridge mode. For my Quantum fiber it was as simple as plugging in its IP into my browser and it popped up the internal menu.
FWIW - I have a BE86u and had an AX57 and AX58 as mesh, both hanging directly off the BE86 and everything 'worked' as expected. Even was notified by the flashing bell and ran a firmware update for the AX57 through the BE86 (manual fw download, flash through the BE86 upgrade interface).
