3G/4G USB Adapter as the modem

I need to connect 3G USB adapter with a mobile internet to be used as the only modem and the only Internet access line. It will be a Huawei E3131 USB stick as I found it is on the list of supported models. Router is Asus RT-AC56U or RT-AC68U.

Will I be able to just plug it in and configure it manually to my network and then use it as a regular modem? Or can it only work as a backup?

Search around the threads - lots of topics on trying to get Huawei 3G/4G modems working...

Saw hunderds of post, but did not see basic expolanatin if t ahd how should it work. And I need to make it work.

If it fails, i will have to travel for entire day to fix it :) If it does not work, I will be able to try another thing in a month or so (will have to buy used modem several years old).

You can use 3g/4g as a primary wan, not need to use dual wan
