68U remote access stopped working via auscomm?

I haven't had to access my RT-AC68U config remotely for many, many months but I did have that working at one time. I had it set up through this link:

https://<my-ssid>.asuscomm.com:8443/

Today I wanted to check on my firmware version from work and see this:

Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh.
Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-AC68U.
To access the settings of RT-AC68U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, WTF. Tried my URL in Firefox and it doesn't work (produces message shown above).

Do it via IE and it works after the warning about the certificate

With some recent firmware versions, I've had trouble finding the router after rebooting or flashing; but a second reboot then will allow me to connect to the GUI.
Some firmware versions have worked only with Explorer; some have worked with Firefox and any browser. Bugs me that Firefox doesn't work easily with router's security certificate; I try adding exceptions, allowing pop=ups, etc. with minimal success.
Couldn't make the 7443 version work, had to revert to 3.0.0.4.380_7378; but then I was not able to access the router remotely, and also would lose Download Master connection after and hour or two. Tech support promised but was unable to fix; after several weeks they stopped writing back. I guess I'll try this newest release of firmware; it can't be worse.
