80mhz bandwidth channel

Do I have to select between specific channels to gain 80mhz bandwidth?

My AC-52 range extender for example lets me select between 20/40/80 mhz and lets me chose channels, but if for example I use channel 140, will it still use 80mhz or is channel 140 restricted only to 20 or 40mhz?

VHT80 channels will pair up - all you can do is define the primary and believe it or not, it's actually the 802.11a 20Mhz channel - backwards compatibility and all...
