A Christmas Gift from Spectrum?

I live in upstate NY. Our choice is DSL or Time Warner. For years I've made do with 6 Mbps over DSL because of money and because TW had a reputation for not being able to deliver the speeds you paid for.

When Spectrum took over they promised to fix that and offered some great introductory pricing. I took the bait. I was pleasantly surprised to see I was getting the 60 x 6 service I was paying for. I was even more surprised to see I was actually getting 70 x 7.

This morning was like a Christmas Miracle! I'm now getting 120 x 12! I don't know if this is just a temporary anomaly while they upgrade their infrastructure but, for now; Wow and Thank You! (It kind of makes up for their less than competitive TV offering.)

Coming from a 6 Mbps DSL service to a 60 Mbps broadband service was huge for me and actually getting 120 is just crazy. According to DSL reports I also have huge bufferbloat. I'm told the way to fix this is with QoS and bandwidth limiters. I haven't tried this yet because running speed tests at full throttle is, well, thrilling!

But it occurred to me; if I had set QoS and bandwidth limiters I would have never noticed my "Christmas Present"! So, I'm left thinking if bandwidth limiters do fix bufferbloat then I would want to target for a score of B (as per DSL reports) rather than go for an A?

That way if my scores improve I should check to see if I've received another "Christmas present". Or, conversely, if they get worse I would know to check and see if they're cutting my speeds back to what I'm actually paying for.

Does that make sense or should I cut back on my alcohol intake?
