Note all the extra cooling vents added to the bottom of the ac3200 and the elevated feet. Makes me wonder if Asus realized they goofed with AC87u cooling design.

it gets warm , I keep mine in 65 degree room and it is warm on top .

Well written and informative review. Am getting the idea that it is smarter to buy two or three no-USB routers, plus a low end NAS, than to buy a $300 router with USB ports for the same overall price.
