AC56U With Non Bridge-able Modem

davidml

New Around Here
Hi

I had since now a modem - dlink 320 b - connected in bridge mode to Asus RT-AC56U.

Worked very fine.

But now , i will migrate soon on VDSL and i need to use again Livebox (orange Modem-router ) with no Bridge mode.

to prepare this , i reinstalled a very old Livebox (modele 2 - the VDSL one is LB3) to test the connection.

I'm trying to setup Asus router but with no success.

my network : (adsl) <-> LiveBox Modem router <-> Asus RT-AC56U <-> Switch <-> PCs

As the LB has not Bridge modem capabilities :

i tried this :

LiveBox Modem : configured to do PPPoe connection with user id and password.

Lan 192.168.2.1 for Livebox

Livebox connected to Wan port of Asus (from Livebox ethernet red output ).

Asus :

Lan : 192.168.1.1 , DHCP ON. all my pcs can access to all others,

but I can not connect to internet.

I know , as not bridged modem, i can not use the PPPoe connection from router.

What can i do for accessing internet : i tried Automatic ip, Static IP , but nothing Works.

In Static IP : i tried this :

WAn ip address : 192.168.2.10 (Asus is IN DMZ on LIvebox side , fixed IP 192.168.2.1 based on Asus Mac Address)

255.255.255.0

default Gateway 192.168.2.1

I have this kind of message in System logs :

Jan 1 03:37:57 kernel: br0: port 1(vlan1) entering forwarding state
Jan 1 03:37:57 miniupnpd[2484]: ioctl(s, SIOCGIFADDR, ...): Cannot assign requested address

Jan 1 03:37:57 kernel: br0: port 1(vlan1) entering forwarding state
Jan 1 03:37:57 kernel: br0: port 1(vlan1) entering forwarding state

Have you an idea ?

Solved

Hi, finally solved this :

i have done a reset factory , and used the wizard to connect , it worked fine , switched to automatic Ip mode and connection was OK....:(

For those who wants to connect Livebox :

connect to livebox :

change IP lan to 192.168.2.1 ,

you can still use dhcp , add a rule to connect Asus to 192.168.2.10 (by this Mac Address),

Add Asus - 192.168.2.10 in DMZ.

connect Red Port of livebox to Asus Wan Port

And Run Wizard to connect.

Initially , Asus was defined in 192.168.1.2 , not sure this was the reason nothing worked.
