The 68P has the 1Ghz processor not the 68U. An AC1900 router is your best now and for the foreseeable future until the higher routers become more reliable and stable.

Yes the 68P has the 1 ghz and the 68U the 800 mhz. I didn't formulate my sentence correctly, sorry for the confusion.

I have the AC66R and never had an issue with it. I would guess getting a 68P would not make a big difference correct? Also , the 68P is $200 at best buy so why not just spend another $79 and get the 88U.

I got the 68P for $169.99 about a year ago. Best Buy had it on sale about a week ago for $179.99.

I am not much knowledgable, but upgrading from the 68R, I would either spend big money on the bigger models if it's really necessary to upgrade, or wait a few months (or more?) for the bigger models to become more accessible. I don't think there's is a really 160$-noticeable-difference between those two routers, but I didn't try the 68R and I could be wrong. And at 279$, I hope this router offers rock-solid stability and stellar performance. But price is really a limiting factor for me. And the environnement and the chinese children working condition who build the devices (or whatever the country). The move must be justified.

If you can return it for a full refund, I would go with the 68P. Again, I didn't try the 68U, but the 68P has a slightly better processor and it is supposed to have better USB 3.0 performance. I think that the extra 10$ is a little investment if you intend to keep the router for a while. I bought the 68P hoping I would not need to buy another router for the next 3-4 years minimum and I ended up picking this one instead of the 68U. Time will tell!

I have the same model and it worked flawlessly until i upgrade my connection speed with my ISP to 100/20 mbps and about every 6 hours it would freak out and just stop working. Before the upgrade with the isp my connection was 30/10 and like i said worked great. I tried stock and merlin fw rechecked all my settings and i could not get it to work for more than 6 hours without crapping out on me. Now i have replaced it with a draytek vigor 2130 that was sitting on the shelf as a backup and my connection has never dropped since, i do have a large network setup or maybe a medium setup with about with around 20 devices. the rt-ac66u just couldn't seems to handle it, maybe the other models might do the trick.
