New Around Here
Hello, new member here after some help please :)

I've had an AC66U router for 18 months and been very happy with it.

However, since the last 2 versions of code I've had problems with download master and the attached storage.

The software crashed a couple of days ago, and the attached drive could not be seen from the router or any device using DLNA, so I had to start from scratch, which did work, then crashed again, and now any USB hard drives I install now get an Enable Error every time I try to install.

I'm running version 3.0.0.4.376_2524-g0013f52

I'm using a WD Elements 2TB drive.

I've tried downgrading to the last 2 versions of code and I've also tried using 2 different USB hard drives with the same results.

Hi,

I just installed "Asuswrt-Merlin fork - build 374.43_2-03j9527" and i have the same problem.

EDIT:

This works but is not the solution:

0.- Removing the HDD from router.
1.- I connected the disk to pc.
2.- Then I downloaded https://dl.dropbox.com/u/100844994/asusware.tar.gz
3.- unzip asusware.tar.gz and replace the folder "asusware" on the disk.
4.- Connect the disk to router
5.- Enter through 192.168.1.1:8081

Maybe it's a problem of asus servers.

Can anyone confirm that downloaded without problems DM these days?

I found repo of asus http://nw-dlcdnet.asus.com
http://nw-dlcdnet.asus.com/asusware/ (i don't know if our model is mipsbig or mipsel)

Same problem with N66U. It has been reported before. Its probably cause by something in the Asus end. I reported it to their technical support yesterday. I hope it gets fixed soon. In the meantime, I will try the work-around above.

Got a reply from Asus technical support. In my original ticket I described everything I had tried. They then replied, that there was nothing else I could try, and my router was defective! Can you believe this? Their support really suck! I can't believe that they can suggest a defective router when everything else is working! They didn't even bother checking if the servers in their end was working as expected.

Anyway, I tried again today, and now it works. So clearly it was a problem in the Asus end that was solved in the meantime.

Asus's tech support definitely has some serious limitations. They seem to be following just some basic flowchart, which always ends with "Have the customer RMA the router" regardless of it it makes any sense or not from a technical level.

The cynic in my will tell you that this is pretty standard procedure for the vast majority of hardware manufacturers these days. Which is why I rarely bother with companies' tech support departments any more. Not since the day a 3Com tech support rep told me to defragment my computer's hard disk to resolve an issue with... a USB dialup modem. Seriously...

This has worked for me with a little bit of tweaking, many thanks.

It is an earlier version of download master in the link which you can browse to once copied to the disk. However when you try to add a torrent file it displays an error message "file already exists". Once I went back to the main USB application section there is now a prompt to upgrade the application to the latest version, which fixes the issue :)
