AC68U flashing to write way

I have a Asus AC68U Router with firmware 339 and would like to upgrade to latest firmware, from what i read, i flash with new firmware after reset to factory, now after that instead of manually redo the settings, can i simply restore from save file or not, if no, what is the use of savings settings then, thank you for your precious time, peace evryone

First you update the firmware. Then you Restore to Defaults. Turn off router (via power button or pull cord). Wait a couple of minutes. Turn on your router. Wait for a couple of minutes. Manually enter your settings.

The point of the saving settings is that you can put the router exactly where it was with the firmware you made the saved settings with.
