Access USB devices from connected Linux computers.

Hi,

I have my Asus RT-N66U set up and both Windows and Linux computers are connected sharing files using Samba on the Linux machines. I am planning on adding storage to one of the USB ports on the router. Will this storage be available to the Linux machines? Also, I currently have a HP printer attached to an ethernet port on the router and both Windows and Linux machines are able to print with it. If I connect the printer to the USB port instead will the Linux computers still be able to use the printer?

The router will share the storage using samba, so that part will work.

I don't know about the printer.

Switches are pretty cheap. If your printer is working fine the way it is via ethernet, you can pick up a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 switch for next to nothing if you are trying to free up an ethernet port on the router.

I haven't used any of those above linked switches, but I'm sure others can recommend a cheap switch to be used for a printer.
