New Around Here
Recently I have gotten sick and tired of internet problems in my home and having to reboot a modem and router manually, so I bought a modem/router combo (SMCD3GN2-BIZ). Even though it is a business class device, it lacks some features that I need such as assigning a static ip. I have turned off DHCP and have a windows server that is being the DHCP and DNS server for my network. I had no problems with this setup other that I cannot use my DDNS address internally. Also recently my server started dying and I am not going to replace it at this point..

Is there a way that I can use my modem/router with another router and remotely access the modem to reboot it? Would I put the router on a DMZ of the Modem/Router and use the router as normal? Then I could connect to the Modem/Router WiFi to reset it if I were having problems? OR am I going about this all wrong?
