Accessing NAS through Wireless

Noradrenalin

New Around Here
Hi,

I'm currently in the process of putting a home network together on paper, and there's one thing I'm not clear about. Say I have my Gigabit switch plugged into my ADSL modem/Access point (Netgear DG834). The NAS/PS3 etc are plugged into the switch. My Ubuntu laptop and my wife's Macbook connect wirelessly to the Netgear for internet access. But will the laptops be able to access the files on the NAS (since they are not plugged into the switch)?

Cheers, Thomas

Yes you should be able to access your NAS or any other computer on the network.

On my setup here at home I can access my NAS (server) from any computer connected to either my gigabit switch or my wireless router. The NAS is connected to my gigabit switch.

Here is my setup...

Cable Modem----4 port Wireless Router----8 port Gigabit Switch
