Hi, I am trying to put together a MoCA network with Actiontec adapters. I am not using any amps, just one 4-way 2GHz splitter (though I have tried several combinations of 2- and 3-way splitters).
After many, many hours of experimentation, it is apparent that as soon as the Actiontec adapters connect to each other, the cable modem loses its connection. If I unplug the adapters and the cable modem connection comes back to life.
It doesn't matter if I use different splitters (or no splitters), amp or no amp, put the adapter before or after the modem, etc. The connection between the adapters themselves is interfering with the modem.
In other threads, the Netgear adapters could be put into D-band mode which solved the problem. However, there is no configuration utility software with the Actiontecs.
What's going on here? I thought this was supposed to be plug and play and that the frequencies didn't interfere with cable modems.
Should I just return them?
If so, what next? I tried powerline and could only get 15-30 Mbps and wireless n is the same or worse.
