AiProtection status page does not update! nor block anything anymore?

Aiprotection is working for me with hundreds of entries in it's log. I'm currently at update 2.64 but does anyone know if it causes any wifi problems. when it was at 2.62 everything was working properly but after the 2.64 update my router isn't as stable as it was.

Not seeing any WiFi issues here but it seems to have had a dreadful effect on your eyesight.

Nothing says 'retired old guy' more than posting dreadful font affects in the middle of a work day. :p

Like some others, I didn't think AI Protection was doing anything. I've gone weeks/months without seeing anything other than zeros. Yesterday, the sd card for my pihole died. Pihole was probably down for 5 hours. During that time, AI Protection blocked and logged 3 Malicious Sites Blocking "attacks". So, in my case, other security features block before they get to AI Protect, BUT it's there when I need it.

:D:D:D:D:D

sorry, my phone recently droped and the screen is barely usable:(

I can't believe some of you guys still use AiProtection.
It doesn't help you guys that much. But it gives you the placebo effect which may help you a lot.

Works fine here. I ended up on a scam website a few days ago while doing some online research. Look what it blocked...

And....... not sure if it's new or I missed it before but the details shown under the "Destination" list are hyperlinks that take you to TrendMicro where you can get more information about the blocked item.

Same works under the Two Way IPS tab.

The latest AX88U firmware brought indeed a number of nice improvements. Those multiple events are now grouped in a group that will expand by clicking on the arrow in the time column, in addition to the hyperlink.

Another improvement in this version: you can now whitelist specific sites.

That is good, one of the things people were asking for was a way to whitelist sites.

The AiProtection GUI suddenly becomes a lot more user friendly.

Its performance is simply terrible it takes ram but actually blocks something only when some1 gives me link to test if it works . It blocks nothing if you have adblock in your web browser . Just turn it off and stop it spying on you which is one of the half baked features asus added for marketing. Wtfast actually is working but the main goal of its work is to make your connection impossible to use because it uses only banana republic hosts funny.

adaptive Qos and Traditional Qos are just the same Traditional Qos has been broken for donkey's years both need to be replaced with SQM

Yet another joke feature . It should let low bandwith connections benefit from rescource managment. Dont try to turn it on it makes things much worse ( no matter what configuration ).

a lot of stuff from trend micro are a rescource hogg

You have any actual facts to support that claim?

Because Suricata and other similar DPIs will use about 10 times the amount of RAM Trend Micro's BWDPI does. BWDPI is surprisingly lightweight, being designed specifically for hardware with as little as 512 MB of RAM. They even have a lower-end version that can run on devices with only 256 MB of RAM. The alternatives typically require between 1 and 2 GB of RAM for basic functionality.

RMerlin,

I turn AiProtection back ON after following the discussion here, if you use it, I will follow :):

I turn AiProtection OFF recently, after playing around with spdMerlin when I found the following:
  • AiProtection OFF: I validated that spdMerlin reported 900++ mbps
  • AiProtection ON: I found that spdMerlin reported about half that speed
  • However, when I use Speedtest App on my MacBookPro, I always get 900++ whether AiProtection is ON or OFF.
PS: I reported this a few days ago in the spdMerlin discussion.

I have 15/3 connection ( radio internet ) but im close and to radio tower its delivered by fibre so its not much different just from isp to my home which is not far i get it by radio. I wont talk about adaptive qos technicals because i dont know any of them i talk about experience with it off/on but once i enable it i can feel it adds a little bit of delay. They create illusion of things beeing faster ( its called first click because in theory you should input faster) but in reality its just illusion things slow down when you compare this to beeing off. I tested many configurations advertised here and i never see even one benefit from from it. I thought qos is meant more for low bandwith connections since it should shape traffic but it usually slows things down. Its like removing throttling from windows packets thats what i would compare it to ( leatrix latency fix ) or something. It looks like it speed things up ( illusion ) but in reality your even slower.

but once i enable it i can feel it adds a little bit of delay

I'd expect Malicious Website blocking to introduce a slight delay since it needs to validate the URL against Trend Micro's database. But that's expected, and doesn't count as "resource hogging".

I've had an Asus Lyra setup for a few years. AiProtect has never worked more than 45 days after factory resetting. I worked with Asus engineers, sending internal logs, etc. They stopped responding to me after a while, and I've given up. In my experience, if I remove the network (from the app, etc), factory reset each device, and start over, it will work correctly and even block access to the winshipway sites (that are above threshold). But, eventually, it all just stops working. No logs and no blocking. Buggy feature at best.
