AIProtection /w Diversion and Skynet

Diversion is DNS blocker, Skynet is IP blocker, AiProtection can catch some things based on signature in packets... so yes, it may add extra layer of protection, but also increases the chance of false positives and requires data sharing to Trend Micro.

Do you have it on or off?

I don't use ASUS routers, but yes - I have IPS enabled (Suricata based) on my UniFi gateways and it does packet inspection, URL filtering and IP blocking similar to AiProtection/Diversion/Skynet combo. I don't use network-wide ad-blocking though (what most people use Diversion for) and don't have Region Blocking enabled (what some people use Skynet for).

What I personally don't like about AiProtection (and other Trend Micro dependent services in Asuswrt) is the fact it's a 3rd party service and one more data collector in perfect position to gather network-wide data including browsing history. The data collection user agreement legally allows them to change the type of data they collect on the fly and in very wide range.
