Airport Express compability with RT-N66U

Hi,

So I'm looking for a way to get airplay working in my bathroom, and the most apparent solution is buying a refurbished Airport Express 2012 model and connecting that to a pair of 2.0 pc speakers. Even thought the Dark Knight provides quite good network coverage, I would like to use the Airport as an extender if possible. And use the general network functionality of the AE So i have two questions:

• Will the Airport express work as an extender with RT-N66U? With 5 GHz?
• Will it even be possible to join my existing network with the Airport Express?

You cannot extend a non-airport network wirelessly with an airport express. You most definitely can join the RT-N66U network and use airplay services, however. I have this exact setup working great.
