Airprint on Official vs Merlin

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with airprint and the official Asus firmware? I have a RT-AC3100 and with the last 2 official firmwares my airprint printers disappear after maybe 10 minutes at most. This makes it impossible to print from an iPhone or iPad. This does not happen with Merlins firmware so I am wondering what the difference is?!?

It is working fine with my RT-AC88U on the latest Asus .4180 firmware. I can print from my iPad and iPhone. It may be related to a setting. You could first try to reset your network settings on your iPhone and iPad then try to use airprint again. If that does not work, one suggestion would be to try would be to enable both IGMP Proxy and IGMP Snooping on the LAN - IPTV tab, and set the DHCP Routes to RFC3442 & Microsoft. If that does not work, enable IGMP Snooping in the Wireless Professional settings tab on whatever band that your iPhone and iPad are connected to.

Restart the printer so it can re-register with the mDNS group...

IGMP Snoop/Proxy has nothing to do with this...

I tried restarting my printer and the same result. I rebooted the router and again the printers are there for about 10 minutes then disappear.

I can flash merlin and make no changes and it works. Flash official and the printers disappear. Really there should be no changes necessary to get airprint to work.

What's the Printer?

I've had decent luck with HP and Brother... but even there, need to keep up to date

(Brother, FWIW, is really current on the one I picked up recently - Secure AirPrint for the Win!)

I have 2 Canon printers one older one and one is only a month old. I have a hard time believing its the printers since both work flawlessly on merlin.

I always thought it was for the Mac, not for the Win...

hehe - Brother isn't so well advertised, but they do some things really well...

(linux at the moment, not so good, but CUPS is formalizing Airprint there...)

no problems with .4180 and Canon printer.

Well I have no idea what is going on then. I tried enabling IGMP Snooping on the professional tab and it makes no difference. I tried factory resetting the router again and still nothing. The printers even disappear from the client list. I am using a DHCP reservation for the ip addresses. I tried making them static but it makes no difference either. When I go to the system log and then DHCP Leases tab the ip address show there for the 2 printers but the hostname is '*' and not the device name. Its really weird.

I usually would just go back to Merlin but I think this official version has fixed an issue I have been having with my xbox one . . . I was randomly not receiving game or party invites from people for months now.

I did not realize that there is an IGMP Snooping setting on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. I enabled it on both and that seems to have fixed it. Is this enabled by default on Merlins?

EDIT: I went back to Merlin since my xbox issues were not resolved. Airprint simply works with no setting changes necessary on it. IGMP Snooping is not enabled in Merlin yet still works. I feel so dirty switching from Merlin in the first place . . . please forgive my transgressions.
