All vlan devices are missing

I have an RT-AX86U Pro router running in Access Point Mode which has an ethernet connection to my Firewalla router. I decided to set up a vlan for my IoT devices. The default router subnet is 192.168.50.1/24

I created a vlan on my Firewalla router with a different subnet (192.168.168.1/24) and assigned vlan ID 50 to it. The router has DHCP enabled. I then created a wireless vlan on my RT-86U Pro assigning vlan ID 50 to it and rebooted my router.

Next, I examined my Firewalla router. It correctly inficates there are 40 IoT devices connected to my vlan subnet. The IoT devices seem to be functioning correctly (at least no problems yet experienced)

However, If I examine the Asus "Guest Network Pro" tab for my just created vlan, I see one wired device connected (my router) and none of my 40 wireless IoT devices appear. Nothing.

When I view the Asus wireless log, I can find each of my 40 wireless IoT devices. And they appear to be connected. But the the "assigned IP address" for each device on my newly created vlan network is "blank".

Why would none of the IoT devices on the vlan not display properly? Is this because my vlan devices are on a separate subnet? Is this indicative of a vlan configuration issue?

Do you see all the devices connected in Firewalla and with IP addresses in correct subnet?

If it is working just use it. The Asus Network Map is and has been wonky. The issue is likely because you have the AX86U Pro in AP mode and the Asus DHCP can't report to the network map. It is possible that it would show the clients in time...but don't hold your breath!

Yes, All the devices show up with IP addresses using the vlan subnet in Firewalla. Everything looks fine there.

In the Asus wifi log, all the devices also show up as connected. Just no IP addresses are shown in the Asus wifi logs. I am surprised this has not previously been reported, which makes me think maybe I have something set incorrectly.

I am aware the network map has never been 100%. But what surprises me is that the wifi log shows all the devices but no IP address. As far as I know, the wifi log has never had the complaints that the network map has

Doesn't sound like an issue to me for your use case. You see the devices connected in the router's UI and also can check the connection status in the AP's UI in case something isn't working as expected.

True, but I’ve had some great responses from @RMerlin amending the wireless log under the system log menu, to reflect the names in the device itself or in the dhcp custom client list, as appropriate. Of course it doesn’t show the details of devices on nodes, which is a shame.

I have noticed the absence of IP addresses in that wireless log from time to time and wondered what causes it not to show, but never found a specific relationship between the device (eg static IP, DHCP etc) and the IP not appearing. It remains a mystery.
