"Allow Client <-> Client" Help

I get the concept of what it does, but when it comes to public Wi-Fi and Windows, does any settings in windows make a difference?

For example, my wife and I are in the same hotel, connected to the same Wi-Fi and we can not see each other's PC to share files. Our connection is set to allow network discovery for private networks only but of course on a hotel wifi you should be on "Public". Does the VPN setting still rely on the Public/Private setting to see each other's computer or am I missing something?

As long as you use a VPN on a public Wi-Fi, is it safe to set the network to Private so you can see each others computer thru the VPN rather than the hotel's Wi-Fi? Is this even how it would work?

I would expect most public WiFi would isolate wireless clients from seeing each other.

I think he's referring to his OpenVPN server's option "Allow Client <-> Client" rather than how the public Wi-Fi has been configured. Without actually testing it I think it should work.

I believe it should work with both private and public set on the VPN network adapter assuming both clients are connected to the same VPN server. If you can ping each other's 10.8.0.x address SMB by IP address should also work.

Again, this is all untested and might be dependent on your VPN client's behaviour.
