New Around Here
Hi guys,

I am looking for a NAS, and the TS-410 seem to fit my need/price (http://www.qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=134). Also the fact that you can upgrade when you want is really cool.

But there is no review here, same thing on the forum. I know it is new (since october 2009) ...

I'd like to know how it perform between the "old" TS-409, and the TS-439. Because there is really big gap between those two in the speed test i've seen here: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/index.php?option=com_nas&Itemid=190, 24MB/s vs 68MB/s ?

Thanks!

Yes I've come across this post last week...

According to the test chart :

24MB/s = the old TS-409 used a Marvell 5281 500MHz @ 256 meg ram
? = TS-410 use a Marvell 6281 800 MHz @ 256 meg ram
? = TS-419 use a Marvell 1.2 GHz @ 512 meg ram
59.9 MB/s = Synology DS409 from the other post use a 1.2 Ghz @ 256 meg ram.
68 MB/s = TS-439 use a Intel 1.6GHz @ 1GB ram

So, that mean that the TS-410 can perform between the TS409 and the DS409, so between 24MB/s and 59.9 MB/s

It will be nice to have a new test on the chart :)

But the price of the DS409 is less than the TS-439, so it worth looking at it.

I was looking at the same thing TS-410 and love the price point, please let me know what you decide to go with and why :)

Hi there,

I finally made my choice one month ago. I took the TS-419P, because i wasn't sure with the 410, and i needed more speed, and the price was only about 130$ more, witch isn't too much for my pocket...

So far i am happy with the product. I was expected much better speed, but the CPU is the problem. When i transfert a lot of file, the cpu go up to 100% and the speed is cap there at around 28 mbit/sec for writing. I have tried a lot of speed test, see my post on the Qnap forum: http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=161&t=25476

So the problem is related to the marvell processor, the Atom processor should be a lot more faster (but lot $$$ too)

my 2 cents :)

TanGU.
