Interesting. I don't know much about CPUs, but with the recent announcement from Apple that they are moving Mac from Intel to ARM, it seemed to me like ARM was set to gradually take over Intel/x86's throne. This article seems to suggest that ARM are vulnerable to RISC-5, which is something I wasn't aware of at all. Potentially sour US/China trade relations will cause China to heavily invest into Risc-5 which would surely turn it into a strong competitor rather quickly granted that the technical capabilities of the architecture are competitive, which I have no grounds to comment on, but seems to be the case.
