Asus AC58U and Bitlocked external USB drive

Hi, my first post here.

So I have an encrypted External USB drive. It's encrypted with Windows Bitlocker. When I attach it to the Asus router via USB port, then Windows cannot see it. Should I format it with the means of Asus router (when it is attached to the router), then map it (on Windows system) and then encrypt it with the Bitlocker ? Will it work at all that way? Thank you.

Windows 10 Programs and Features\Windows Features\SMB1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support (except server) needs to be enabled.

Root folders on the USB drive need to be given user access permissions. This can be done via the router webUI, but maybe not with encryption in place. This has been said to be done via Windows sharing first when attached to a PC, and may be the only way with encryption in place. I simply use my Windows user/login credentials for my router admin/login credentials, and then I can access all USB drive folders created via the router webUI without any additional access setup, but no encryption in place here.

If any of the above does not help, you may have to remove encryption and step through it again to see what works when.

You can't use a Bitlocker-encrypted drive with the router. It's a Windows-only feature that only works with locally attached drives. It doesn't work with network filing systems.

I'm sorry for the late reply. Thank you for the answer. But shouldn't the mapped drive behave like a local drive?
